mountain lions

Please please please everybody who goes to Mtn. Ridge go to the board meeting tonight at 7p.m. in support of the yearbook staff, mrs. G. and Mrs. Poulson! Its soooo important! They want to get them fired for the yearbook! Please, if you've never stood up for something before, now is the time to do it. Take one measley hour out of your summer (if ur a senior) and show up to support our school! They want to start using prior review for all publications at our school, this is horrid news! This is horrible for all publications at mountain ridge! please please please go and wear MRHS colors to show support! thankyou :)

well obviously the students were making a slightly suggestive twist with the words... you can't deny that. but the way i see it, is it was done all in good fun and these phrases do have meaning other then just pornographic. to be honest someone could take any phrase and make it sound sexual. so while no one can say there isn't a suggestive reference, it's definetely not worth the uproar it's recieved.

I agree totally. While I think the Yearbook staff should have thought of the possible consequences their creative ideas would have, I truly do think it was good. I don't think it's a big enough deal to be on the news or have a board meeting over, but I just think the Yearbook staff should have thought, and if they did and chose to do it, good for them for being able to stand up for themselves right now. As for the newspaper, I don't know how many people it bothers, but it really does bother me seeing an article end. I've counted at least 3 articles in newspapers that I have read and just ended not in the right spot, which really makes me not even want to read them anymore because the articles aren't full length. That's all I was saying. And no I don't know what prior review would do to a publication, nor do I care. I only look at the newspaper because I'm bored, it's not actually interesting to me.

yeah. i can understand your frustration over the articles. as a prior editor on the ridge review, i agree it shouldn't be happening. however, in defense i know late nights (the final nights the paper has to finish everything before it goes to the printer) can be very chaotic and unfortunately that's how stuff like that can slip through. anyway, congrats on your last day of school. have a good summer!

The only reason that an article may possibly not finish right is because somebody did not pull the text all the way down when they were making their page layout. It RARELY happens. Prior review is horrible, it means the school has to censor everything we publish. "And no I don't know what prior review would do to a publication, nor do I care. I only look at the newspaper because I'm bored, it's not actually interesting to me." ---thats probably one of the most ignorant statements, so stupid. Even if you are not on a publication, I would hope you would at least stand up for our school. If everything gets censored, the quality and timelness of it goes down hill. If you are so dumb and ignorant to not even care what prior review means, why are you even posting on this site?? Thats bascially what the whole yearbook fiasco is about, you shouldnt respond if you dont know what you're talking about.
